Open Mouth- Speak Diversity

A quick post, here in Cyrsti's Condo (for once) about last night. Perhaps you remember me writing about the "2 dolla" pint night I have frequented for years in a big mainstream sports bar I go to.

I guarantee over the years, I have made so many fashion mistakes (in there), I wondered if I was ever going to get this cross dressing thing right and even come close to living my feminine dream. In fact,  I've experienced so many of "walk of shames" in the place (even to the point of falling down in my boots) I can't start to remember them all. .

The place has 36 draft beers and approx 30 seats along a straight long bar - no pun intended.  Last night, I had to walk all the way to the other end to find an open spot which happened to be next to a couple I have seen several times, but never met.  I asked if they could pass me the beer list which was setting in front of them which actually started us down a road of interesting conversations about the local and regional beers that are becoming so popular.

Not long after that, they introduced themselves and asked if I lived close by.  I said actually I'm sort of between two cities right now (Springfield and Cincinnati). It turns out they have two grown kids which live in Cincy and asked where I was moving to there.  Without giving any consideration to what gender tag they were attaching to me, I said, "I'm moving in with a friend on the East side and yes she is a she and she is my partner."

The whole thing came and went so quick and I said it so matter of factually, I thought damn and waited for any reaction.  There wasn't much of one.  The other woman just paused so briefly and said that's great. They were good people and I didn't have to get into an in depth conversation on the dynamics of being transgender, or worse yet my sexuality.

I guess it is just another sign of how my life is moving full circle and I am wondering if I should ask the bar management if I can get a kick back when another patron orders more beer to talk?  Probably not!

Discovered?

If you follow "reality television" at all, you have witnessed the "reality" of several networks presenting no programming related to their original names.  The A&E Network  comes to mind as one of the biggest farces of all as the "Arts and Entertainment's" highest rated program was the "Duck Dynasty" show.

Now, according to "Variety" the Discovery Life Channel has ordered a docu-series this spring centered around the lives of  four pairs of trans couples and friends as they navigate the hurdles of transitioning as transgender. Discovery Life will debut on Jan. 15 as a makeover of the channel that is now Discovery Fit and Health. “Those Girls” is scheduled to debut in March.

It takes place in Kansas City which begs the question, "Dorothy,  are we in Kansas after all? "

The Reality of Transgender

For what ever reason, I have steered away from YouTube videos here in Cyrsti's Condo-unless I am very impressed with them and they are worthy of sharing.  Lynne actually forwarded this one to me.  Both of us were struck about how JoAnna in the video so eloquently was able to get across points we already knew about a Mtf gender transition:

Cyrsti's Condo "What If?"

.

To hell with cleaning my room! I'm having too much fun in my sister's clothes!

Star Gazing with Cyrsti!

OMG! If there was ever a "Friskyscope" written for me-THIS IS IT!!!:

Libra(September 23-October 22): The best times this week will happen late into the night, as the seediness you crave and the edginess in your style can only shine for those that are hardcore. Live out the life, as your comfort zone turns into a VIP lounge with you sitting court. Let the bottle service flow and dance as late as you want to. As for responsibilities, enjoying yourself will have to come first.

Wait, wasn't that Halloween for me? Took me three or four days to recover! This week I'm not done as my "guest sign feature just has to go to the Gemini's:

(May 21-June 20): Your brain will be buzzing like a jackhammer, breaking you in and out of thoughts. You won’t make sense of anything too easily and will be prone to overthinking the simplest issues. Yes, a naturally dramatic vibe is coming, as you will steep into a psychotic mode, being a victim one minute, the victor a second later. Have your besties and boo pull up a chair to enjoy the show.

If you are a Gemini, call me! I want a front row seat! But if you aren't and your sign's weekly prediction is not here, don't "Boo-Hoo" and get tears all over your keyboard just  follow this link !

Cyrsti's Condo "Sunday Edition"

"Kerplunk!" another Sunday Edition from the Condo has hit your virtual front porch! Well, kids, another week has flown by and swept up October with it and brought in some chilly weather in Southwestern Ohio! My hot cup of "Joe" tastes good this morning!

Page 1.- The week that was - or wasn't.  Of course the week that was, included Halloween-otherwise known as "All Halla's Eve" (Holla back) for cross dressers everywhere.  Three of the blogs I follow on a regular basis; Femulate, From "me" to Mandy, and Janie Black all featured some sort of Halloween experiences. I enjoyed the differing perspectives!

We also had a wide range of other "happenings" to reflect upon, such as the first Condo complete guest post ever from Pat, Helen Boyd's post on Trans Partners and our look at "Bob Seger" .

All in all, a busy week!

Page 2.- The Battle goes on.  The tragic discrimination faced by active duty transgender U.S. military members goes on and was brought to the public's eye this week yet again by Army Captain Sage Fox  shown left. Captain Fox essentially was told to go away after she was told she could transition and come back.

This continues to happen to trans military members and I think will, until these very key and vicious mid term elections are out of the way in our country.  Obama could do away with the injustice with a stroke of his pen, but continues not too and the Pentagon says it would be up for a study which is a fate worse than death for any issue.  What a "study" means is: We will sweep it under the rug and spend unneeded money until it goes away and we are working in some sort of other fat cat bureaucratic job.

Let's remember though, Veterans Day is coming up November 11th and it will; be a time to revisit the sacrifices of all veterans -transgender or not!

Page Three.-Positive success stories.
Lynn Conway
There used to be a site that showed so many others that came out a while back. It listed the doctors, scientists, teachers and business leaders that had successfully transitioned. Many on that site were originally in stealth but came out to show the world who they were. I remember Gwen Smith and Melanie Phillips sites that showed us so much information and helped us weed through all the BS sites. Lynn Conway's site Allowed us to see others that were successful. It was these women that helped pave the way for so many to follow.
Absolutely Michelle and thanks!!!  I remember quite early in the game, I too found Lynn's extensive site and was positively dazzled and depressed at the same time.  Dazzled at the amount of transgender women who were so successful and living what I perceived to be the impossible dream. Which led to my depression. At the least though, she showed me what could be possible!
Page Four.- The back page.  Well kids it's time to get to the store before the Sunday football games start.  I'm sending good vibes out to all of you along with continued thanks for stopping by Cyrsti's Condo!
