This post is a small montage of comments I received from one of my Halloween posts. The first is from Paula in the UK:
"Although growing in popularity over here (UK) Halloween has not played a big part in development. However one band I play in is considering having a Pantomime themed concert when we will be asked to play in fancy dress. I rather like the idea of going as a "leading boy", Prince Charming in thigh boots sounds like fun!"
Thanks Paula! I think this is the time of year I neglect to mention how big of an occasion Halloween is in this country. It's right next to Christmas!
And from Connie:
"Hey, I just heard of a survey that concluded 50% of men shave their legs! What's this world coming to? :-)
I found out last Friday that the main accessory for my costume was put on back-order - rescheduled for delivery in November. I had to cancel the order and am now hurriedly trying to figure out what costume I can wear this weekend. Maybe this is my year of the slut look? Or, I could go as the Seahawks offense and be nothing...." (NFL reference to a Seattle offense struggling to score any points!)
Must be all those "metro-sexual" guys!
Plus it is Halloween week on TV, a great chance to sneak a peak or two at a cross dressed actor!

Cyrsti's Condo "S"and "D"
On occasion I still run across the individual who dismisses quickly they could never look like a woman. Truly, I have happened along a few of men who looking feminine at all would be a real process....but-
There are just as many men who won't/can't put the work into an exterior passing presentation. At the least, logic tells us you need to start with the basics. You need to watch your weight and take care of your skin.
Lately, to get ahead of the summer fashion curve, I have been stepping up my game. It's no fun to diet by yourself and don't you just have to have a diet to talk to another woman about? Now I do, and yes it is working. Of course, as my snarky sister in law commented "well, men lose weight faster than women anyhow." I shot back " How bout a man who has been on female hormones for two years?"
So far so good, I have lost a certain amount of poundage which I can talk about in feminine circles and make me look a little better.
As far as my skin goes, facing 65 years of wear and tear in the mirror is tough but the best I can do is take care of what I have. Again I have fallen back on Liz's expertise on moisturizers and skin cleansers etc.
It's quite the project! On the bright side, you guys are now allowed to take better care of your skin and hair. So, being a cross dresser isn't so dramatic. Just forget about the 3 minute grooming process before work in the morning!

Beauty and the Brow
Surely one of the major road blocks we face in our feminine presentations are the eye brows. These days the gay and the metro sexual guys are paving the way for a better looking brow and less attention to it.
For most of us though, just walking in to your barber shop and asking to have your brows waxed and shaped just isn't possible.
As I went through my "formative" cross dressing days, I decided to "gradually" pluck and trim my brows. A great plan until on occasion I got carried away and went a little farther with the process than I should. Luckily my glasses covered my increasingly feminine brows until they grew back. But they didn't. On the positive side my brows were a tremendous plus to my looks and eyes. On the negative side I received a couple "suggestions" a mustache or beard would make me appear "more manly".
Of course I embraced the positive but have always viewed with great interest the extent drag queens work to cover their brows. Good for the stage, not so much for a trip to the grocery store.
I know much depends on who you live with and how they feel about your transition (even into cross dressing). But you too can try a "gradual" eyebrow shaping regimen. Back in the day when I started my hair and brows were almost black and I began by "thinning" some of the hairs in the middle...then I began to shape the brow later.
Two words of warning. You need to be careful to match each side and never assume your eyebrows will grow back quickly!
