Do NOT make it a gender issue and put the sign on the front door. The store has issued two name tags: one for him and one for her. It's up to him/her which one to wear each day. I know that he or she would expect me to use the ladies room if I asked to use it. Nevertheless, if I were on my way to spend many hours at a parade, I would be happy to relieve myself in any restroom that was available. Ms. Meehan did the right thing in letting the ACLU handle it, though, rather than making a big deal out of it at the time - although, I would have asked to bring it up with the manager first.
